Kansas City BBQ roasted sweet potatoes

Serves 3-4

Sweet potatoes have a great affinity with most spices, and roasted sweet potato with this spice blend brings the outdoor BBQ flavor indoors as a hearty side dish.  

Ingredients

1 – 1 ¼ lbs sweet potatoes, washed, peeled, and cut into planks approximately 4” long by 1” wide
3 tbs butter
1 tbs neutral cooking oil
1 tsp cane syrup (or honey or maple syrup)
1 tbs Culinaria Creations Kansas City BBQ Spice
¼ tsp kosher salt

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350°. 

Melt the butter with the oil. Add the cane syrup, spice blend, and salt, mixing thoroughly. Put the sweet potatoes in a mixing bowl and pour over the butter mixture. Toss well to distribute the ingredients and coat the sweet potatoes. 

Place on a foil-lined baking pan, trying to keep some space between each one, and roast for 30 minutes. Turn the sweet potatoes over to brown the other sides. Return to the oven and roast another 10 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender throughout.  

Serve hot or at room temperature.
